F1 races 15km shorter from '27, approx 2-3 laps

Formula 1 races will be reduced from 305km to 290km (approximately 2-3 laps) starting in 2027, a change approved by the Formula 1 Commission meeting in London, chaired by CEO Stefano Domenicali and single-seater director Nikolas Tombazis. The reduction aligns with new power unit fuel flow guidelines, and a 'hard stop' time rule for rain-interrupted races will replace the existing three-hour limit. The 2027 season will also feature 24 grands prix with Portugal and Turkey returning to the calendar, while the sprint programme will expand from six to 10 events, including Monaco.
