Fernandes wins FWA Footballer of the Year award

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has been named the 2026 FWA Footballer of the Year, securing 45% of votes from the English football media and beating Arsenal's Declan Rice by just 28 votes. The 31-year-old Portuguese international becomes the first United player to win the award since Wayne Rooney in 2010, with Erling Haaland finishing third. Fernandes is also one assist away from equalling the Premier League all-time seasonal record of 20, jointly held by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.
