Fernando Alonso's astonishing demands to 'block Lewis Hamilton from gaining F1 data' revealed
Fernando Alonso's former McLaren race engineer Mark Slade has revealed that during the turbulent 2007 F1 season, Alonso demanded that rookie teammate Lewis Hamilton be blocked from accessing his car data, offering to reciprocally give up access to Hamilton's data. The demand, made around the time of the Silverstone race, was refused by McLaren. Slade explained that Alonso's request stemmed from his belief that the team was giving Hamilton preferential treatment over him, despite Alonso being a two-time world champion, ultimately leading to Alonso's departure after just one season.
