Ferrari Brings F1 Engine Update to Austrian Grand Prix

Ferrari will introduce an updated power unit at the Formula 1 Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring, aiming to close a performance gap to Mercedes. The upgrade is permitted under ADUO, the FIA's new 2026 regulatory mechanism for in-season power unit development, which allows Ferrari two such updates after measurements indicated it was approximately four percent behind the best internal combustion engine. Ferrari's Power Unit Technical Director Enrico Gualtieri noted the team has pursued both continuous and longer-term development programs, though the team acknowledges the upgrade will not dramatically change the competitive order.
