Ferrari explains “succession of mistakes” that led to latest Lewis Hamilton F1 penalty
Ferrari team boss Fred Vasseur explained that Lewis Hamilton received a five-second penalty at the 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix after exceeding the pitlane speed limit by 0.1km/h. Vasseur attributed the infringement to a 'succession of mistakes,' believing Hamilton was attempting to recover from locking up his wheels on the way into his pit stop. The penalty dropped Hamilton from a podium position to fifth at the chequered flag, leaving Ferrari without a podium at a circuit where they had been considered favourites.
