FIFA extends Prestianni ban to World Cup matches
FIFA's Disciplinary Committee has extended the six-match ban imposed by UEFA on Benfica winger Gianluca Prestianni to have worldwide effect, ruling him out of two FIFA World Cup matches if selected for Argentina. The ban originated from UEFA's punishment for Prestianni's verbal abuse of Real Madrid's Vinícius Júnior in the Champions League, with three of the six games deferred on probation. Argentina begin their World Cup campaign against Algeria on June 17 in Kansas City, with a second group game against Austria five days later in Arlington, Texas.
