Fifa to miss equal Women’s World Cup prize money ambition set by Infantino

FIFA will fall short of achieving gender pay equality in prize money for the 2027 Women's World Cup, despite president Gianni Infantino pledging in 2023 that equality was the organisation's ambition. Although the prize money for the women's tournament is expected to double, a significant gap will remain compared to the men's competition. This comes despite FIFA generating a record $15 billion in revenue from the 2024 men's World Cup.
