Flag football moves toward NCAA championship status

Flag football took a major step toward becoming an official NCAA championship sport after the NCAA Committee on Access, Opportunity and Impact voted at its spring meeting to recommend all three divisions sponsor legislation adding a National Collegiate Flag Football Championship. The first championship is projected to take place in spring 2028. The move falls under the NCAA's Emerging Sports for Women program, which aims to expand participation and competitive opportunities for women across NCAA divisions.
