Florida Panthers Acquire Goaltender Akira Schmid
The Florida Panthers have acquired 26-year-old goaltender Akira Schmid from the Vegas Golden Knights in exchange for Florida's third-round pick in the 2028 NHL Draft, General Manager Bill Zito announced on June 30, 2026. Schmid posted a 16-10-6 record with two shutouts in 34 games for Vegas during the 2025-26 season, and holds an 82-game career NHL record of 32-28-10 across stints with the Golden Knights and New Jersey Devils. In Stanley Cup Playoff action, the 6-foot-5 Swiss native has a .924 save percentage and 2.26 goals-against average over 10 appearances, ranking among the top performers among goalies with at least 10 playoff games since 2022-23.
