Foote fired as Canucks coach, no replacement named
Adam Foote was fired as head coach of the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday after posting a 25-49-8 record in his only season, which saw the team finish last in the NHL and become the first team eliminated from playoff contention on March 22. New general manager Ryan Johnson made the decision, with Manny Malhotra of the AHL's Abbotsford affiliate emerging as a leading candidate to replace him. Assistants Scott Young, Kevin Dean, and Brett McLean were also let go, as the Canucks look to rebuild following a dramatic fall from winning the Pacific Division just two seasons prior.
