Former England defender Young to retire aged 40
Former England international Ashley Young has announced his retirement from football at the age of 40, ending a 23-year playing career. Young began at Watford and went on to represent Aston Villa, Manchester United, Inter Milan, and Everton, winning league titles in both England and Italy. He will finish his career at Ipswich Town, having joined the club on a one-year deal in July 2025 after leaving Everton.
