Former Major League Baseball pitcher and longtime pitching coach Phil Regan died on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at the age of 89, according to his attorney who informed ESPN's Jeff Passan. Regan played 13 seasons in the majors starting in 1960 with the Detroit Tigers, before joining the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1966, where he had his best season with a 1.62 ERA, a 14-1 record, and 21 saves, earning his only All-Star selection. After his playing career, he spent nearly five decades in baseball as a coach and scout.
