Former UConn star Breanna Stewart scores 26 as Liberty defeat CT Sun, 89-80

Breanna Stewart scored 28 points to lead the New York Liberty to an 89-80 WNBA victory over the Connecticut Sun at Mohegan Sun Arena on Monday night, June 9, 2026. The Sun were without Brittney Griner (rib injury) and Aneesah Morrow (leg sprain), while former UConn centers Aaliyah Edwards and Olivia Nelson-Ododa each contributed 15 points in their absence. The Liberty, now 8-4, were also shorthanded as Sabrina Ionescu (back) and Jonquel Jones (illness) both missed the game.
