Former Yale men’s tennis player clinches historic tournament win

Former Yale tennis player Vignesh Gogineni ('26) made history on Monday by winning the Edwardsville Futures tournament in Illinois, becoming the first Yale alumnus to win a professional tennis tournament in over 40 years. The win also earned him a wild card entry to the Cincinnati Open, an ATP Masters 1000 tournament. Gogineni, who graduated from Yale in May 2026, was ranked No. 1,097 in the ATP rankings at the end of July before claiming his first professional title.
