Formula 1 announces return to Africa with Grand Prix in Rwanda in early 2030s - ABC News
Formula 1 has announced a 10-year deal to host a Grand Prix in Rwanda, marking the sport's return to Africa for the first time since 1993. The race, expected to begin in the early 2030s, will take place on a new track to be built southeast of Kigali, Rwanda's capital. The deal was announced Tuesday by F1 and Rwandan President Paul Kagame, and fulfils a long-held ambition of seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, who has advocated for an African race.
