Formula 1 has plans to change the engines hated by most drivers as soon as next season
Formula 1 and the FIA have announced planned engine rule changes set to take effect as soon as the 2027 season. The modifications would increase internal combustion engine (ICE) power output by 50kW while reducing Energy Recovery System (ERS) deployment. The changes are aimed at shifting the balance of performance back toward driver skill, addressing widespread driver dissatisfaction with the current hybrid power unit formula.
