Formula 1: Sustainability changes put sport on track for net zero emissions by 2030
Formula 1 has reported it is on track to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2030, according to its annual review of the 2025 season. The sport has achieved a 35% reduction in its carbon footprint compared to the 2018 baseline and a 12% reduction since 2024, with total CO2 emissions falling from 228,793 tonnes in 2018 to 148,805 tonnes in 2025. Key measures contributing to the reductions include shifting from air to sea freight, investment in sustainable aviation fuel, and revisions to the race schedule.
