Fox won't renegotiate NFL media rights before current deal expires, CEO Lachlan Murdoch says
Fox CEO Lachlan Murdoch announced during a Thursday earnings call that Fox will not renegotiate its current NFL media rights deal until closer to 2030, when the league's opt-out clause expires. The decision follows recent preliminary discussions between the NFL and Fox, as well as CBS-parent Paramount Skydance, about eliminating the opt-out clause and increasing live rights costs. Fox's current contract covers the NFL's Sunday afternoon package and extends through the 2029 season, with the full deal running until the end of the 2033-34 season if the opt-out is not exercised.
