France homers, Sears wins season debut as Padres beat Braves 5-2 for 3-game sweep

The San Diego Padres defeated the NL East-leading Atlanta Braves 5-2 on Wednesday night to complete a three-game sweep. Ty France homered off Martín Pérez in the third inning for his ninth home run of the season and also added a sacrifice fly, while JP Sears earned a win in his season debut. The Padres have now won five of their last seven games and will host the NL West-leading Los Angeles Dodgers, who currently lead San Diego by nine games.
