Franco Colapinto handed extra grid penalty at F1 Bahrain GP
Alpine driver Franco Colapinto will face a total 15-place grid penalty at the F1 Bahrain Grand Prix held in Malaysia at Sepang. He carries a five-place penalty from Baku for causing a collision with Pierre Gasly and Lando Norris, and has received an additional 10-place penalty for taking a fifth Mercedes internal combustion engine this season, exceeding the allowed four-unit annual limit. Alpine opted to introduce the new power unit given Colapinto was already facing a significant grid drop, aiming to minimize long-term damage to their engine supply.
