Frank Warren not 'going to p*ss around'; will sue WBC if Oleksandr Usyk-Agit Kabayel not ordered
Frank Warren has threatened legal action against the WBC if they do not order heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk to defend his belt against interim WBC champion Agit Kabayel, who earned his title shot by stopping Zhilei Zhang in the sixth round in February 2025. The WBC had previously pledged at their December convention to allow Usyk one voluntary defense before mandating a Kabayel fight, but drew criticism for sanctioning a May 16 bout in Egypt against kickboxer Rico Verhoeven, who has only one professional boxing victory dating back 12 years. Kabayel has kept busy by defending his interim title against Damian Knyba in January 2025, winning inside three rounds in Oberhausen, Germany.
