French Open recap Day 3: 17-year-old rising tennis star gives Paris something to cheer - The Athletic
Seventeen-year-old Moïse Kouamé became the youngest man to win a Grand Slam match in 17 years by defeating former US Open champion Marin Čilić 7-6(4), 6-2, 6-1 in the first round of the French Open on Day 3 (Tuesday). The victory was Kouamé's first-ever Grand Slam win and provided a much-needed boost for French tennis fans following a string of disappointments, including the retirement of Gaël Monfils, the injury withdrawal of Arthur Fils, and a first-round exit for Loïs Bosson. Kouamé, who hails from Sarcelles near Paris, won on Court Simonne-Mathieu at Roland Garros.
