Fresh off final game with Argentina, Messi leads Miami vs. D.C. United

Lionel Messi, having played his final match for the Argentine national team earlier in the week, will lead Inter Miami against D.C. United in MLS play on Saturday, October 9, 2026. Inter Miami (12-5-10, 46 points) sit third in the Eastern Conference but are in the midst of a five-match winless streak in league play under recently hired coach Kily Gonzalez. D.C. United (6-8-12, 30 points) sit 11th in the East, three points outside the final playoff spot, making the match crucial for their postseason hopes.
