From surprise starter to HR hero, Mayo's blast flips script on Yanks
Coby Mayo, a last-minute addition to the Baltimore Orioles' lineup after Samuel Basallo was scratched with left knee discomfort, hit a go-ahead three-run home run in the seventh inning to give Baltimore a 3-2 series-opening victory over the New York Yankees at Camden Yards. The 24-year-old designated hitter's blast spoiled a no-hit bid by Yankees starter Ryan Weathers and snapped Baltimore's winless streak against left-handed starters, which stood at 0-9 entering the game. The win was also Baltimore's first against New York this season, after the Yankees swept a four-game series at Yankee Stadium from May 1-4.
