Galopin Des Champs, a two-time Cheltenham Gold Cup winner, died aged 10 on Tuesday after suffering an injury in his field, less than a week after being retired from racing. Former jockey Ruby Walsh confirmed the news in a statement to RacingTV, saying the horse 'could not be saved.' The gelding, trained by Willie Mullins, had an illustrious career winning 12 Grade One races, including three Irish Gold Cups, two Savills Chases, and a Punchestown Gold Cup.
