Gasly stuns with maiden pole at Monza

Pierre Gasly claimed his maiden Formula 1 pole position at the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, beating George Russell by just 0.06 seconds with a lap time of 1m 21.786s. The Frenchman, driving for midfield team Alpine, benefited from a double slipstream behind Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton on his final Q3 lap. The pole comes in Gasly's 10th Formula 1 season, having never previously qualified higher than fourth.
