George Russell steals F1 Canadian GP pole from Kimi Antonelli on feisty day
George Russell claimed pole position for the Canadian Grand Prix at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, edging out Mercedes teammate Kimi Antonelli by just 0.068 seconds with a late flying lap. The result gives Mercedes their fifth consecutive pole from five races this season, locking out the front row. McLaren's Lando Norris qualified third and Oscar Piastri fourth, with Lewis Hamilton fifth, while Russell and Antonelli's qualifying battle was heightened by an earlier on-track clash during the sprint race.
