FIFA president Gianni Infantino attempted to orchestrate a symbolic handshake between Palestinian Football Federation president Jibril Rajoub and Israel FA vice-president Basim Sheikh Suliman at the 76th FIFA Congress in Vancouver, but the gesture backfired when Rajoub refused to stand alongside Suliman on stage. The awkward incident occurred towards the end of the congress. Infantino also confirmed his intention to run for a third full term as FIFA president in next year's election.
