Giro d'Italia 2026: Adam Yates loses nearly 14 minutes after crash

Britain's Adam Yates lost nearly 14 minutes to rivals on stage two of the Giro d'Italia 2026 after a major crash involving around 20 riders on a wet descent, with Yates hitting an Armco barrier at speed and emerging bloodied and covered in mud. The 33-year-old UAE-Team Emirates rider, considered a contender for the overall pink jersey, had two team-mates hospitalised as a result of the incident. Yates is set to be assessed by team medical staff to determine whether he will continue in the race.
