Giro d'Italia: Alec Segaert claims first-ever stage win on a Grand Tour

Belgium's Alec Segaert, 23, claimed his first-ever Grand Tour stage win by taking victory on Stage 12 of the Giro d'Italia, a 175km race from Imperia to Novi Ligure, after a surprise late attack denied the sprinters a bunch finish. His Bahrain-Victorious team-mate Afonso Eulalio, 29, extended his overall lead over pre-race favourite Jonas Vingegaard to 33 seconds. Segaert joined his first professional cycling team in 2023.
