Gobena breaks course record, Jepchirchir dominates at Sydney Marathon

Addisu Gobena of Ethiopia won the men's TCS Sydney Marathon on Sunday, clocking 2:04:42 to smash the previous course record of 2:06:06 set by Hailemaryam Kiros in 2023. Compatriot Chimdessa Debele finished second in 2:04:46, with Lesotho's Tebello Ramakongoana third in 2:04:57, and remarkably all seven top finishers came in under the old course record. World and Olympic champion Peres Jepchirchir won the women's race at the Abbott World Marathon Majors and World Athletics Platinum Label event in Sydney.
