The Vegas Golden Knights defeated the Utah Mammoth 5-4 in double overtime in Game 5 of the Western Conference First Round at T-Mobile Arena on Wednesday, taking a commanding series lead. Brett Howden scored the game-winner short-handed at 5:28 of double overtime, while Pavel Dorofeyev completed a hat trick with 53 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 4-4. Shea Theodore added a goal and an assist, Jack Eichel contributed two assists, and goaltender Carter Hart made 34 saves for Vegas.
