Guerin, MacFarland, Verbeek named finalists for GM of the Year Award
Bill Guerin of the Minnesota Wild, Chris MacFarland of the Colorado Avalanche, and Pat Verbeek of the Anaheim Ducks have been named finalists for the NHL's Jim Gregory General Manager of the Year Award. Guerin made headlines by acquiring defenseman Quinn Hughes from Vancouver on December 12, with Hughes recording 54 points in 48 games post-trade, helping Minnesota finish third in the Central Division (46-24-12) and win a playoff series for the first time since 2015. Kirill Kaprizov led the Wild with 45 goals and 89 points, and recently signed an eight-year contract extension with the team.
