‘Half the peloton is ill’: cowpats blamed as cyclists fall sick after race in Belgium
Several cyclists fell ill after the Famenne Ardenne Classic in Belgium, with three Lotto-Intermarché riders briefly hospitalised. Bacteria from cow dung is believed to have sprayed onto riders during wet racing conditions, causing widespread sickness across the peloton. The race was won by Arnaud De Lie, who had also recently competed at Paris-Roubaix.
