Hamilton Insists He Plans to Stay in Formula 1 “For Quite Some Time”
Lewis Hamilton, 40-time Grand Prix winner and seven-time Formula 1 champion, has stated he plans to remain in Formula 1 for several more years, dismissing any talk of retirement. Speaking ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve — where he won his first race in 2007 — Hamilton, now 41 and in his 20th consecutive F1 season, confirmed he is contracted through 2027 and is planning for the next five years. The Briton, who joined Ferrari for 2025 on a multi-year deal after 12 years at Mercedes, currently sits fifth in the championship, eight points behind teammate Charles Leclerc, and scored his first Ferrari podium in China.
