Hellebuyck traded to Devils by Jets for Mercer, Daws, Bjugstad, picks

Connor Hellebuyck, a three-time Vezina Trophy winner and 2024-25 Hart Trophy MVP, was traded from the Winnipeg Jets to the New Jersey Devils on Friday after being suspended by the team since September 16 following his trade request and failure to report to training camp. In return, the Jets received forward Dawson Mercer, goalie Nico Daws, forward Nick Bjugstad, the rights to Alexander Command, and second- and seventh-round draft picks in 2029 and 2027 respectively. Hellebuyck posted a 47-12-3 record with a 2.00 GAA and .925 save percentage in 63 games during the 2024-25 season, and also led Team USA to gold at the 2026 Winter Olympics with a perfect 5-0 record.
