Hellebuyck’s unclear future not reason Jets signed Skinner, GM says
The Winnipeg Jets signed free-agent goalie Stuart Skinner to a two-year, $7.5 million contract ($3.75 million AAV) on July 1, with GM Kevin Cheveldayoff stating the signing was not motivated by uncertainty surrounding starter Connor Hellebuyck's future. Hellebuyck, who won both the Hart Trophy and Vezina Trophy in 2024-25, has been the subject of trade rumors after Cheveldayoff confirmed he is listening to offers for the three-time Vezina winner. The Jets also signed defenseman Mario Ferraro to a three-year, $12 million deal on the same day.
