Hodgkinson claims Euro 800m silver, Werro gold

Swiss athlete Audrey Werro won gold in the women's 800 metres at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham on Friday, setting a championship record of 1 minute 54.81 seconds. British Olympic champion Keely Hodgkinson, who was the double-defending European champion, finished second in 1:55.01, narrowly missing a hat-trick of European titles. The Netherlands' Femke Broeders-Bol took bronze in a Dutch national record of 1:55.54.
