Honda announce changes to leadership of power unit programme
Honda has announced a leadership change in its Formula 1 power unit development programme, with Yoichiro Fukao set to take over as Large Project Leader from October 1, replacing Tetsushi Kakuda. The change comes as Honda and its engine customer Aston Martin have struggled with performance and reliability issues under the new 2026 technical regulations. Honda stated the transition is designed to ensure knowledge transfer to the next generation of engineers and build a competitive power unit ahead of further regulatory changes expected from 2027.
