Horner: Red Bull blocked moves for Leclerc, Alonso
Former Red Bull team principal Christian Horner reveals in his new book 'Drive' that he was blocked from signing both Fernando Alonso and Charles Leclerc as replacements for Sergio Pérez during the 2024 season. Alonso personally expressed his desire to partner Max Verstappen at the Japanese Grand Prix, but Red Bull adviser Helmut Marko shut down both moves, reportedly on behalf of Verstappen's management team. Horner, who was dismissed as Red Bull team principal and CEO in July 2025, also considered Leclerc a strong candidate due to his speed and determination.
