How F1 has got rid of one of 2026 rules' strangest quirks
Formula 1 has introduced a regulation tweak ahead of the Miami Grand Prix to eliminate a quirky aspect of the 2026 rules that had caught out drivers including Charles Leclerc. The change, agreed upon by teams, addresses an issue with the complex energy deployment algorithms that forced drivers to use a certain amount of power when accelerating out of corners, a behavior McLaren boss Andrea Stella had described as 'peculiar.' The Miami rule revamp also includes a reduction of the recharge limit per lap to 7MJ, among other measures aimed at improving qualifying competition and spectacle.
