How often do riders win both the Dauphiné and the Tour de France?

Only 12 riders have won both the Critérium du Dauphiné and the Tour de France in the same year, doing so on 15 occasions since the Dauphiné's inaugural edition in 1947. Notable double winners include Eddy Merckx (1971), Bernard Hinault (1979 and 1981), Chris Froome (2013, 2015, and 2016), and most recently Tadej Pogačar (2025). Louison Bobet was the first to achieve the feat in 1955, winning three stages at the Dauphiné before claiming two mountain stages at the Tour de France.
