How to surge to No. 1 in Power Rankings? Rip off another 10-game win streak
The Chicago Cubs have surged to No. 1 in MLB Power Rankings after becoming the first team since the 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers to record multiple distinct 10-plus-game winning streaks within their first 40 decisions of a season. The Atlanta Braves drop to No. 2, with the rankings also noting the death of legendary Braves manager Bobby Cox on Saturday at age 84; Cox won a World Series, five NL pennants, and finished fourth on the all-time managerial wins list with 2,504 victories. The American League continues to struggle early in the season, with only three AL teams currently holding winning records.
