Hudson-Smith urges people not to 'bash' athletics
Matthew Hudson-Smith, 31, won gold in the 400m at the European Athletics Championships held at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham, finishing with a time of 44.17 seconds to claim his third European title. The event was held just 30 miles from his hometown of Wolverhampton, and a temporary stand was named in his honour. Hudson-Smith acknowledged the disappointment of empty seats throughout the stadium but urged people not to criticise the sport, calling instead for athletes and others to do more to promote athletics.
