Hutchinson beats Buatsi to win WBC light heavyweight title

Willy Hutchinson defeated Joshua Buatsi by unanimous decision (scores of 117-112, 115-113, 115-113) at the AO Arena in Manchester on Saturday to claim the vacant WBC light heavyweight title. The 28-year-old Scotsman, now 21-2 with 14 KOs, avenged a previous loss to Buatsi and became Scotland's first men's world boxing champion since Josh Taylor's junior welterweight reign ended three years ago. The vacant belt had been relinquished by David Benavidez, who moved up to cruiserweight where he holds unified titles.
