Hyman out for Oilers against Canucks with upper-body injury

Edmonton Oilers forward Zach Hyman, 34, will miss Thursday's game against the Vancouver Canucks due to an upper-body injury sustained in the final preseason game against the Calgary Flames on Saturday. Coach Mike Babcock described him as day-to-day but suggested the injury could sideline him for approximately two weeks; Hyman did play 20:33 in Tuesday's season-opening 6-5 overtime loss to Vancouver. The Oilers have also lost second-line center Ryan Nugent-Hopkins to a lower-body injury, prompting the emergency call-up of 24-year-old forward Josh Samanski from the AHL's Bakersfield for what will be his 25th NHL game.
