'I almost cried': After 8 years in Minor Leagues, Dean notches 1st MLB hit

Justin Dean, a 29-year-old outfielder, recorded his first career MLB hit on June 19, 2026, after spending eight years and 745 games in the Minor Leagues. Playing for the Chicago Cubs against the Toronto Blue Jays, Dean hit a three-run triple in the seventh inning of a 16-2 Cubs victory at Wrigley Field. Dean had previously been with the Dodgers as a baserunning and defensive specialist, earning a World Series ring, before joining the Cubs from Triple-A Iowa.
