'I kept fighting right to the end' - emotional Nishikori retires

Kei Nishikori, the former world number four and one of the best players never to win a Grand Slam, retired from professional tennis at the Japan Open in Tokyo at the age of 36. He lost his final match 6-4 6-4 to world number eight Frances Tiafoe. Nishikori is remembered for becoming the first Japanese man to reach a Grand Slam final, where he faced Marin Cilic.
