'I think the dream is dead this year' – Lewis Askey rode too well at the Tour de France to be lanterne rouge

Lewis Askey of NSN Cycling came close to claiming the lanterne rouge — the last place position — at the Tour de France, but ultimately rode too well to finish bottom of the general classification. The British rider flirted with last place during the race but ended up comfortably clear of the final spot. Askey himself acknowledged the dream of claiming the infamous distinction is over for this year's edition of the race.
