‘I’ll keep doing it as long as I can’: Harry Newton, London Marathon’s oldest runner at 88

Harry Newton, an 88-year-old retired grocer from Macclesfield, is the oldest runner in the 2025 London Marathon. Newton only took up running at age 57 and has since completed 31 marathons, including 21 at London and one during lockdown consisting of 461 laps of his garden. He advises first-time marathon runners to maintain a steady pace and not start too quickly.
